The best way to cut to the chase would be to find a video by Paul Vunak. Google or Ebay would do that trick. World War II combatives from Chris Pizzo is a great place to go if kicking ass is a priority. Look for Carl Cestari on you tube, he was Chriss Pizzos instructor.

I just noticed your location as the Phillipines, lucky you, find someone there to teach you Kali, Escrima or Arnis. All names for the same Phillipino martial art. Paul Vunak is well versed in that as well as many other arts.

Default Videos, etc.

Videos are okay, but please be careful who you get them from.

I recommend the series on Krav Maga that will get you some basic self-defense principles...

HOWEVER - nothing is like training at a dojo with a real sensei. Shop around and start looking, and don't let them bully you into joining.

A great deal of teachers out there resort to aggro techniques to get students, and they don't really understand "bushido."

Ask more questions and I'll be glad to clarify...

I chose well in my first sensei, and it made ALL the difference...

Default Arts

Until you know what you want, you should start with something simple. I'd say a type of Karate would be good for starters.

Well I started Krav Maga of late. Wow, every lesson about 5 minutes into it I'm questioning why I'm doing it. I settle down and always enjoy the class. I thought I was in pretty good shape for a 51 year old man, I ran 9 miles about a month ago and try to get a 2 mile run in every week, the Krav classes and a trip to the gym to lift once a week. I really wasn't ready for the pure physicality of Krav. I'm told that in the advance classes there's a real possibility for injury.
